Andreas Gaebler is a qualified tax clerk; he came into contact with compliance issues whilst at university, subsequently trained as a certified AI manager, and has been with the law firm Schröder & Partner since 2020. He explains that the idea for the emergency file originally arose from a challenging situation. A few years ago, a client contacted him with the news that a key member of staff was on his deathbed. This employee possessed in-depth knowledge of tax-related processes.

This was followed by a rudimentary method of recording information using a Word document; however, this approach eventually reached its limits. Over the following years, the template was progressively developed and refined. Various challenges arose even at the stage of populating the document, such as coordinating with clients. Furthermore, it proved particularly difficult to analyse the documents effectively.
