Response to our open letter to Olaf Scholz

We have a open letter written to Federal Minister of Finance Olaf Scholz. In it, we propose using the e-balance sheet procedure to provide evidence of the loss of turnover and the eligible costs. The Ministry of Finance has now responded to our proposal. The reply reads as follows:

Thank you very much for your letter to the Federal Minister of Finance, Olaf Scholz. Please understand that, due to the large number of enquiries, the Minister is unable to reply to you personally; instead, he has asked Department L C 4 – Citizens’ Affairs at the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) to do so.

On behalf of the Federal Minister of Finance, I would like to thank you very much for sending us your proposal for an e-balance sheet procedure to provide evidence of eligible costs in the context of the application for coronavirus bridging aid. The Minister greatly values policy debate – particularly in these times, it is of the utmost importance that as many experts as possible put forward proposals. We have forwarded your proposal to the relevant department here at the Ministry.
