Anyone who purchases a software licence from hsp gains access to a comprehensive package of services. This includes agility, which has proven to set the standard for the industry. At the moment, we are all focusing on a particularly agile topic: the property tax reform. The resulting tasks demand an unprecedented level of agility from everyone involved. This includes tax practice firms and businesses, private owners and software developers. This is reflected in hsp’s regular, far-reaching updates. The Opti.Tax release 22.0.7 is due out shortly. On „hsp live at 11“, Paul Liese demonstrated the most important new features.
To begin with, Paul highlights an issue that law firms have been raising with hsp more frequently of late. Once data has been imported from an Excel template, how can it subsequently be assigned to a client in the firm’s system? This will be possible with the new update. To do this, once the data has been imported, right-click on the client. Using the „Properties“ option, the data can now be assigned to a client within the system.
If the user clicks on the project, they can use the „Specialist Support“ menu option to pre-fill the authorisation to receive correspondence and the authorisation to participate in amending this declaration. To do this, it is necessary to specify in advance the client number assigned to the client within the practice. When a new project is created, the power of attorney for receipt and the authorisation to participate are already pre-filled. If one or both are not required, the relevant item in the list on the left can be selected by right-clicking it. Clicking „Not required“ will delete the corresponding data.
Multiple locations possible
Another major change has also been introduced at the request of a number of partner firms. This concerns large law firms that operate multiple offices and share a single Opti.Tax installation. Previously, it was not possible for each individual office to have a separate area within the installation. With the new update, any number of folders can now be created, each of which is assigned to a specific location. When creating a folder, the client numbers associated with that location can also be specified. Staff members can also be assigned to the location.
Next topic: property tax. On 30 May, the tax authorities released the final version of the Elster Rich Client (ERiC), which is intended to enable data transmission from 1 July onwards. For hsp, as the developer of the leading property tax software Opti.Tax Grundsteuer, a crucial question arose: were there any further changes to the data sets? There were. These were implemented by the development team in record time and will be rolled out with update 22.0.7. Paul would like to discuss some of these changes.
Optimisation down to the last detail
A small but useful change has been made to the address entry process when creating a new plot of land. Whether you enter a postcode or a town, the correct federal state is automatically recognised as you type. As there are also postcodes that span several federal states, this has also been taken into account by hsp. Another new feature is the automatic display of the property tax value or property tax assessment amount once all the required data has been entered.
Another new feature is that, under the heading „Details of the area and standard land value of the (part of the) plot“, in the sub-heading „Municipality-specific list of cadastral districts and parcel(s) of land“, the municipality selection field now displays suggestions. This is intended to prevent typing errors, as these would lead to difficulties with the tax authorities. Once a municipality has been selected, the software will only suggest, under „Cadastral district“, those cadastral districts that are available within that municipality.
These and many other improvements are included in the Opti.Tax Release 22.0.7. The hsp team is continuing to work flat out to integrate the necessary features step by step. Those in charge remain open to feedback from the hsp.community, so that all users can benefit from the expertise of individual specialists.
