hsp Managing Director Paul Liese has co-authored the book *The Tax Adviser as Crisis Manager: Supporting Businesses with a View to the Future* together with four experts. The 270-page book has been published by Schäffer-Poeschel Verlag. Drawing on their expertise, the five authors aim to encourage decision-makers. For despite these uncertain times, there are many opportunities just waiting to be seized. Experienced practitioners from the fields of tax and management consultancy present advisory concepts relating to liquidity planning, controlling and accounting, which help to strengthen businesses in times of crisis.
As part of this, Daniel Terwersche, head of Kanzleistratege GmbH, speaks with his four co-authors. The first guest in the podcast series is tax adviser Steffi Köchy-Gellfart. Her practice, which has ten staff members, has been driving forward digitalisation initiatives since 2008. Based in Halberstadt in Saxony-Anhalt, Köchy-Gellfart is a pioneer in the development of innovation and digitalisation within a law firm.
Digitalisation as a law firm’s philosophy
For Köchy-Gellfart, an experienced innovator, switching to working from home at the onset of the pandemic’s impact was not a particularly daunting task. Her firm had long since introduced remote working systems; only two staff members needed to be provided with the necessary equipment. So far, the completely decentralised day-to-day running of the firm has been running smoothly. This means that Köchy-Gellfart and her team can concentrate fully on their clients. Every now and then, the experienced tax adviser even has time to document proceedings.
