However, some hsp partners are unsure where to find specific information or the relevant contact person. hsp Captain Paul Liese talks to Custom Success Manager Samuel Königshoven about the support hsp offers and where it is available.

How can a company like hsp help law firms without disrupting their day-to-day work with a flood of information? And how can law firms stay up to date with updates, changes and improvements without losing track of the bigger picture?

The hsp offers a wide range of support. For example, the hsp team is constantly producing video content on the subject of property tax. A series of workshops allows those interested to find out more about the federal and state models. Documents and opportunities for discussion are available on the hsp.community. Documents relating to the property tax reform are being made available to enable data collection to begin – although the relevant function in the software will not be available until later. Special cases and exceptions have become the norm.

The support of the future is interactive

So here’s a question for Samuel: How do law firms keep up to date? Samuel recommends the hsp.community as the first port of call. All hsp partners receive free access to the firm’s own community, which can be accessed via a web browser or mobile app. There, interested parties can find most of the key information and content provided by hsp. For example, e-learning modules help those new to property tax to familiarise themselves with the subject step by step, at their own pace. The second tip regarding property tax itself: read up on it. The subject is deliberately made very complex by the authorities. Accordingly, expectations of hsp should be realistic.

Paul goes to the hsp.community home page. Samuel recommends, as a first step, looking for the „Property Tax“ group, which can be found under the third tile on the home page, „Groups“. There you’ll find all sorts of discussion groups on a wide variety of specialist topics. If you now click on a group, e.g. Property Tax, the „Join“ button appears in the top right-hand corner. Only members are notified when there is activity in the group. The Property Tax group clearly demonstrates that the swarm principle works extremely well. Experts network with one another, share tips, answer questions and discuss specific real-world cases.

From individual cases to lessons for everyone

Paul and Samuel then go on to discuss the ‘How-2-click!’ workshops on property tax. These are e-learning workshops that include face-to-face interaction, focusing primarily on the implementation of property tax in Opti.Tax. This ensures that the property tax reform remains more than just theory; it is put into practice with expert guidance. Tax adviser Teresa Gerke is on hand at these special workshops, enabling specific, practical questions to be discussed directly. A unique opportunity for tax practice firms and their staff.

This means that each person can decide for themselves which topics to focus on – and to what extent – and which to leave aside. This is because the courses are constantly updated, as is all technical content. If the tax authorities’ guidelines change, it is not just the software that is adapted. All relevant documents and e-learning modules are also updated.

Taking your time actually saves a lot of time in the end

Further support is available through the monthly Opti.Tax session. On the first Monday of each month, questions and features relating to Opti.Tax are discussed. The free course has been cancelled on a few occasions this year, but is due to resume on a regular basis from June. Anyone interested can find the invitation via the hsp channels.

One last time, Paul selects a menu item in the hsp.community Go to: the „Ideas“ section. This menu item hides one of the most powerful and important features of the hsp.community. This is where users can submit their own ideas and requests for features they would like to see implemented in the software. In this way, a number of ideas have now become actual features. As well as submitting their own ideas, users can also rate ideas already submitted by other users. If an idea receives enough support, there is a high probability that the feature or change will find its way into the software.
