Schleswig-Holstein
The „Schleswig-Holstein Further Training Bonus“ is available to apprentices, employees, recipients of ALG II, self-employed people and owners of micro-enterprises, provided they can prove that they work or live in Schleswig-Holstein. Furthermore, small enterprises (SE) as defined in Annex I of the AGVO are eligible for funding for low-threshold and innovative digitalisation measures.
The Continuing Professional Development Bonus subsidises programmes lasting between 16 and 400 hours and covers at least 50 % of the course fees, with the maximum grant amount being €2,000. The digitalisation grant for SMEs covers up to 40% of eligible expenditure.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
Recipients of grants for vocational training measures may be natural persons who are business owners, partnerships, legal entities governed by private law, or commercial enterprises operating on a supra-regional basis.
Depending on their eligibility for funding, companies receive, on average, a grant of 50 per cent of the eligible expenditure per training voucher, up to a maximum of 500 euros.
Applications must be submitted in writing or online to the GSA (Gesellschaft für Struktur- und Arbeitsmarktentwicklung mbH). Further information can be found here.
Hamburg
Under the „Hamburg Model“, those eligible for further training include the self-employed, start-up founders, workers in creative professions and those returning to work after prolonged periods of absence due to illness, low-income earners, unskilled workers, people from migrant backgrounds, single parents, employees on parental leave and those receiving supplementary benefits.
Depending on the group of people, grants of between 50 and 100 % are awarded. The maximum grant amount is 2,000 EUR per person.

Lower Saxony
The programme is aimed at employees and owners of businesses with premises employing fewer than 50 people. Eligible costs include participation and examination fees for job-related further training, as well as staff costs arising from employees’ time off work to undertake further training.
Employers receive a grant covering up to 50 per cent of the course fees; the minimum grant amount is 1,000 euros. The employer’s contribution must be at least 10 per cent.

Bremen
The Bremen Continuing Education Voucher was designed to support various groups of people, as well as small and micro-enterprises, in taking part in continuing education.
The subsidy amounted to up to €500 per employee per year. For training courses, up to 50 per cent of the course fees were covered, and each company was generally entitled to four cheques per year. The maximum total subsidy therefore amounted to €2,000.
The Bremen Further Education Check is currently no longer being issued due to the funding programme being time-limited. However, follow-up funding is being planned and on this page you can keep up to date with the latest developments in this regard.
Brandenburg
The Education Voucher scheme in the state of Brandenburg supports further training for residents of the state who have not previously taken part in any vocational training.
The cost of the training course must be at least €1,000, including any examination fees. The scheme is eligible for funding of up to 50 per cent of the costs, subject to a maximum grant of €3,000.

Berlin
You are eligible for the Berlin „premium voucher“ if you either work an average of at least 15 hours a week or are on parental or carer’s leave, and have a taxable annual income of no more than 20,000 euros.
The state grant from the State of Berlin amounts to a maximum of 500 euros or half the cost of the further training.
To receive a bonus or savings voucher for your further training, you must visit an advice centre. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research provides information about the education bonus and the advice centres available. You can also get information by calling the freephone helpline on 0800 262 3000.
Saxony-Anhalt
The „Weiterbildung Direkt“ programme is aimed at apprentices, the unemployed and those in employment with a gross monthly income of up to 4,575 euros. The scheme is described as „individual, job-related further training“.
Depending on a number of factors (occupation, age, income, etc.), applicants receive a grant covering up to 90 per cent of eligible expenditure, up to a maximum of €25,000 per training project.

North Rhine-Westphalia
The NRW Education Voucher scheme supports participation in continuing vocational training. The scheme is aimed in particular at employees, people returning to work and the self-employed, as well as SMEs with up to 249 employees.
The education voucher is issued following a consultation at one of the state’s advice centres and provides a subsidy of 50% of the costs incurred; however, the maximum amount is 500€.

Saxony
Both individuals (keyword: „individual vocational training“) and companies (keyword: „in-company training“) can receive funding under Saxony’s „training voucher“ scheme.
Depending on the target group, between 40 and 80 per cent of the costs of further training, including examination fees, are subsidised.

Thuringia
The training voucher is available to employees working for companies in Thuringia. Public sector employees are not eligible for the training voucher. In general, funding is available for all training courses that impart knowledge, skills or competences relevant to one’s profession.
The federal state of Thuringia provides a grant of up to 1,000 euros towards further training.

Hesse
„The “Qualification Voucher’ scheme run by the State of Hesse is aimed at employees subject to social security contributions who do not yet hold a vocational qualification, or who have not worked in their trained profession for more than four years, or who are currently working in a different occupational field.
Under this scheme, 50 per cent of the participation and examination fees are covered, up to the maximum grant amount (€4,000).
To be eligible for funding, you must attend a free, face-to-face consultation with a so-called „education coach“ from the ProAbschluss initiative. You can find the education coaches’ contact details and further details about the Qualification Check at www.proabschluss.de.
Rhineland-Palatinate
The „QualiScheck“ funding scheme supports employees whose main place of residence or place of work is in Rhineland-Palatinate. Special feature: For further training courses costing more than €1,000, support is also available to employees whose annual taxable income is less than €20,000. This enables comprehensive funding for work-related further training.
The „QualiScheck“ reimburses 50 per cent of the costs incurred for further training. The maximum grant amount is €1,500 per person.

Saarland
The Saarland programme „Competence through Further Training – KdW“ supports further training initiatives for employees in small and medium-sized enterprises who wish to undertake professional development through their employer.
The training grant covers up to 50 per cent of the eligible training costs. The maximum amount is 2,000 euros per employee.

Baden-Württemberg
The Baden-Württemberg programme supports employees of small and medium-sized enterprises, entrepreneurs, start-up founders, freelancers and those returning to work.
Funding is available for specialist courses comprising a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 240 teaching units, in the form of a subsidy towards the course fees; participants may receive a subsidy of between 30 and 70 per cent of the course fee.

Bavaria
The state of Bavaria provides grants for employers, employees, jobseekers and the self-employed in industry, commerce, the skilled trades, the social sector and other professions.
The ESF in Bavaria provides funding of up to 100 per cent for projects aimed at improving the skills of the workforce. The focus of the funded initiatives is on restoring the competitiveness of businesses through vocational Further training.
