In the interview, Mr Ritz talks about how the partnership began.

Mr Ritz is a product manager at the ERP provider Oxaion, based in Ettlingen near Karlsruhe
How did you come across hsp Handels-Software-Partner? What were the original reasons for working with them?
Up until now, our software product, oxaion, has featured an in-house e-balance sheet solution. However, it has become apparent that it is very difficult for us to ensure that this is kept up to date, as we have various product releases under maintenance. For us, this means that whenever there are legislative changes, we have to make the necessary adjustments available across all the releases that are still under maintenance. The second aspect is that further developments in e-balance sheets – for example, the introduction of hypercubes – involve very high technical requirements and are a task best left to a specialist. We had previously been in contact with hsp through our managing director at the time. We have now taken this as an opportunity to get in touch with you again and to integrate this into oxaion accordingly.
That sounds like a very successful collaboration. How did the integration of the Fibu and Opti.Tax modules go? And how did the first projects go?
The work required on oxaion’s part was very straightforward. We export the relevant data – such as the balances – as an encrypted file and integrate it into Opti.Tax using the wizard. The wizard function is intuitive; I was able to get to grips with it straight away and can import and map the data accordingly. We’ve now had over five projects in which you’ve submitted the e-balance sheets to our clients. I’ve received consistently positive feedback from all these projects.
Are there any other features or parts of the software where you would say there is still room for improvement, or that hsp should do even better in future? After all, we’re always keen to improve our software.
I am not aware of any issues arising from the initial projects. To emphasise this once again, one feature that is generally very well received is the live validation against the messages from the ERiC client. This has always been a key concern for our customers. During repeated validation, they were confronted with errors. This meant our customers had to go to a great deal of trouble to find out where these errors originated and how to rectify them. This has been resolved very well here. The same applies to the paper-based display – that is, the interactive preview available at any time. I think that’s been handled very, very well too. What remains for us to do now – though this is a matter for oxaion – is the integration of the fixed asset register, which will simply be mandatory in future taxonomies.
In that respect, would you recommend our software? Would you say that the Hamburg-based software company is so good that you would definitely recommend it?
Yes, I can recommend it. In the project scenarios that were described to me, I’ve found the software to be incredibly efficient. We managed to deliver four e-balance sheets to a client in one and a half days – including an industry-specific balance sheet, which is always a bit of a special case. That’s simply my experience. The projects run smoothly and quickly, and that’s always a good thing.
